The Fear of the Unknown

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown” ― H.P. Lovecraft

There is just something about not knowing, that continues to scare each and every one of us. We are creatures of habit and want to know what is coming. Although some of us may crave adventure, we still like a plan, a knowing of what will happen when we get there.

And this fear has a direct correlation with wedding planning. Those nerves, fears, and anxieties are because you have never done this before and you don't know what to expect out of the experience. Well today, I want to ease some of those nerves as I will be giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at your bridal trial.

So when it comes times for your own trial, you will be prepared for what is to come and you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the amazing ride...and get pampered, of course ;)

Why a bridal trial?

Yes, you absolutely, positively, 100% NEED to have a bridal trial. Now this is not practice time for the stylist, but rather a time for your stylists to get to know you, to get a great understanding of your style and what your wedding day will be like, to bounce ideas off of you that you may not have thought of before, and to make sure all of their products are going to be best for your wedding day!

What if you are allergic to a specific makeup product and you didn't realize it because you didn't have a trial? I don't think you want puffy, red eyes on your wedding day! While is is an extreme example, a trial will eliminate all stresses, as you will know exactly what you will be getting on your wedding day.

Remember, it is the professional's job to duplicate your look from the trial to the wedding day so again, the fear of the unknown is completely eliminated, and you can sit back and enjoy your wedding day from start to finish!

The Bridal Trial Timeline

The Consultation: The consultation is like a meet-and-greet with your stylists to ensure they know everything there is to know about your style, your wants, your needs, and everything in between. The more he or she knows about you and your wedding day, the better she will be able to create your vision! Stay tuned for more to come on the consultation on tomorrow's post!

The Makeup Trial: During your makeup trial, your artist will start with a "lighter" look and from there, she will get heavier and darker until you find a look that is perfect for you! Because if she starts dark, then it is must harder to lighten from there :)

The Hair Trial: And then we get to your hair trial, where your stylist will present multiple looks and take photos of each, so that you can choose which you would like for your wedding day! In Kelsey's case, Dee worked on a ceremony look and then a reception look, a great idea for a bride who cannot decide on one look or for the bride who wants to make sure her hair is out of the way for the partying to come, but doesn't want to sacrifice the "hair down look" that she loves!

And here is a sneak peek at Kelsey's first look during her trial with Swell Beauty!

And the most important tip I can give you to remember during your trial, is to be 100% honest with your stylist. I promise, no feelings will get hurt. You only get one trial and then the big day is here, so make sure you love your look before you walk out of those salon doors!
