7 Habits Wedding Guests Need to Quit

Wedding guests always make the wedding day the most memorable experience -- but this may not always be a good thing. So we suggest that you pass some of these tips along to your family and friends to ensure your wedding day is the best experience possible.

1. Guest Photography

Please please please do not reach up, out, or anywhere to snap a photo of the bride and groom during the ceremony, or during any time throughout the evening. You know the disclaimer they announce to you before a roller coaster? Keep this in mind when snapping shots on your cell phone or camera that day.

Although the bride and groom may be happy that there is a beautiful shot of them on Instagram that evening, they aren't going to be too happy with you when they get their wedding photos back and your arm (and gold glittery cell phone case) are the center of attention in all of their favorite wedding shots...that they paid thousands of dollars for.

2. The Bride's Emotions

Yes, the bride is nervous. Yes, she is anxious. And she knows it! But bringing these emotions up to her on her wedding day will only make it worse. And the only emotions we want to see are happiness and love. So keep it to the positives.

3. Eating the cake before it's been cut.

Yes, I've experienced this one. Don't ask and just don't do it. Remember, we are all adults here.

4. The Binge Drinker

Not only will this be an embarrassment for you, but this can often embarrass the bride and groom. And you don't want that guilt on your shoulders forever. Remember that there are grandparents and children and people of all ages and backgrounds at the wedding...not just your fraternity brothers from college. So treat this event as a classy one and save the over-drinking for another night!

5. Bossing Around the Wedding Staff

You did not hire the wedding vendors or the catering staff so no matter how much you think you know or who you think you are, it is not your job to order around any staff at any wedding you attend. That's what the coordinator is for :)

6. Texting the couple the day of the wedding.

The bride and groom have other things to deal with on their wedding day...like getting married! So PLEASE don't text either of them asking what time or where the wedding is at. In fact, don't text them at all! It will just stress them out more when they need to be relaxing and enjoying every minute of their big day.

7. Talking during speeches and dances.

This happens at EVERY SINGLE WEDDING and for some reason, I continue to be shocked each and every time. A toast is going on or the bride is dancing with her dad and for some reason, guests don't know how to keep their mouths shut for just a couple of minutes. And boy, is it rude! I know it can be boring when the Best Man just doesn't want to end his speech but this is one time in life when you've got to pretend you're interested. Or at least don't talk to the person sitting next to you!
