Words from the bride:
"My husband and I initially set out with the idea of a small wedding in a venue surrounded by a forest, clear skies and a lake view. Being from a big family with many family members who couldn't travel far, the destination dream wedding quickly faded. We needed a venue that could accommodate 120 people, that had all the benefits of a well-planned venue, but still had elements of the wooded wedding we initially envisioned.
Upon walking into Eden Gardens, I knew I had found the place. It had the trees my husband wanted, the birds and a beautiful lily pad-dotted lake I wanted, and the venue details that would work for hosting many people. With such a beautiful stage, we really wanted the garden grounds to shine and for our guests to enjoy the serene scenery. We kept everything simple and chose to use cream whites with gold accents.
White hydrangeas and roses were our main flowers. My mother meticulously chose decor that was gold -- not in a flashy way -- but with a classic and romantic feel. We included personal touches such as baby photos and engagement photo portraits.
My advice for fellow brides: As with every wedding day, there were day of jitters and pre-planning stresses. But you either let the stress consume you or realize it's out of your hands at that point. "Why is my husband's family running late?" They'll get here when they get here. "Did we buy enough alcohol?" No, but wedding planners are gracious enough to go on a last minute beer run. "Why can't we figure out how to hook the bustle to my dress?!" Just make it work! It'll look great either way.
In the end you have to focus on the moment. Focus on the love you and your husband share and the big step you're about to take and ultimately, the life you will create together. And have fun! This is the best day of your life! Oh, and hire an amazing photographer so you can capture all the memories you missed, because the day will go by so much faster than you think.
We had such an amazing wedding day. Holding my husband's hand for our grand entrance, walking around that corner and being greeted by everyone we love and cherish is a memory I'll hold onto forever. I really hope that's what heaven feels like one day."
