A Rustic-Bohemian Inspired Wedding

This styled came together over about a 4 week span of time. As we gathered our group of amazing vendors, we began to brainstorm the look and feel we wanted for this shoot, which is a wonderful perk to organizing a styled shoot - you have control over every detail! Having an event coordinator on our team was a gift! Pineapple Union found the Birchview Outdoor Wedding & Event Center, in Linden, Michigan. Our shoot was their first event, and I am honored to have been a part of their history. I have a feeling Michigan brides will be flocking to book this venue, as one mother-of-the-bride was scoping it out as we were setting up!

During the planning stage, I introduced myself to our model, Katelyn, via Facebook. Right from the beginning, I knew she was a perfect fit for the shoot. Katelyn is beautiful and very gifted guitarist, which totally fit into our bohemian vibe and her and her wonderfully bearded husband, Kyle (not many men can pull off a beard like his) make a gorgeous couple, which we couldn't help but tell them through the entire shoot. Working with actual couples is such a nice perk, as they have that authentic chemistry. To top it all off, Katelyn and Kyle are celebrating 5 years of marriage this summer, so the timing couldn't have been better!

The day of the shoot was unseasonably warm for Michigan, and extremely windy. But, once our models were finished with hair and make-up, the temps and wind calmed down and the evening turned literally picture perfect. We were even blessed with a beautiful sunset as the couple cut the cake. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful shoot and day. Having talented and happy vendors and models to work with makes all the difference. To top it all off, we were able to gift a whole gallery of images to the couple for their anniversary.

A Post Oak Lodge Vintage Wedding

"This gorgeous wedding took place at Post Oak Lodge in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 29, 2017. The venue sits on top of a large hill, surrounded by trees and overlooks Downtown Tulsa. The ceremony was supposed to be outside, but Spring weather in Oklahoma is unpredictable and due to rain in the forecast the ceremony was moved inside the lodge. And it was a good call! A severe storm hit Tulsa hard.

The bride and groom opted for a first look as the bride wowed the groom in her vintage inspired gown. The ceremony was simple and sweet and after a few photos the couple entered their reception and began with their first dance.

The reception room had the couple's names projected onto the fireplace and touches of vintage inspiration filled the space. At each place setting a bottle opener that looked like an antique key was given to each guest. A globe was where guest signed their names and the cake was an elegant yet simple design in white. The newlyweds and guest ate, drank, and partied the night away.... and only once did the power go out due to the storm."

A Cape Town Newlands Forest Engagement Session

Peter and Nicola are getting married in the Cape Town CBD next year and their reception will be held at the top of one of the tall city buildings. For their engagement shoot, they wanted to add a nature element to contrast the city setting of their wedding so they decided on autumn forest engagement photos.

On shoot day, the Cape Town skies were threatening rain which provided dark and dramatic lighting for the shoot. We took a hike up into the Newlands forest and discovered beautiful alcoves, trees and streams and as you can see, it was the most gorgeous setting for these two love birds.
