It's Not About the Weight

With our re-launch completed and new articles on many area of the bridal lifestyle coming soon, it really got me thinking about the message I am trying to get out there about health and fitness and why I have added those categories to the blog. So today, I am going to set the records straight and tell you exactly why we are promoting these four main categories of the bridal lifestyle: weddings, marriage, recipes, and fitness.

A very common term throughout the wedding industry: #sheddingforthewedding

There are companies out there that even create workout apparel for the bride, in order to encourage fitness. And as you know, we LOVE all of it!  We've even promoted some (with more to come) in our Bridal Boutique Shop! I don't know about you, but when I get a new item of workout apparel, I want to get in the gym every day for the next week, just to wear my new item! Am I right or am I right?

But for some reason, #sheddingforthewedding really gets to me. Yes, I know. I've used it before on Instagram but for some reason, it just never feels right.

What do you think about this...?

#SheddingForLife #SheddingForLove #SheddingForHim #SheddingForHealth #SheddingForHappiness

I could go on and on with hashtags that I love far more than #sheddingforthewedding, but I digress.

And that brings me to my main point...

Shed for Your Future

The reason I brought health, fitness, and recipes into our blog is to encourage a healthy living style. Of course, you all want to look fabulous in your wedding photos and let's be real, that is the reason most of us try to get in shape for our wedding.

And while that is great, that is the short term. We are not looking at the big picture.

So what happens after the wedding? You look great in your photos and then go back to your normal lifestyle, only to have your kids one day say, "Mommy, that doesn't look like you."

We are encouraging health and fitness not only to look good and feel good on your wedding day, but to create a healthy lifestyle for years to come. I always say it and I am going to say it again...

Your wedding is about your MARRIAGE.

And the healthier you are, the more years you'll get to spend with the love of your life. And on top of that, the more HAPPY years you'll get to spend with the love of your life.

So I am not promoting health and fitness to encourage loosing a couple pounds for your wedding day and then gaining it all back on the honeymoon. I am encouraging it so each and every one of you can start your future together happy, healthy, and looking forward to years and years together.

Looking great in your wedding photos is fun, but a longer lifetime with your best friend is even better!

Never Stop Dating: 36 FREE Date Ideas

As you become wrapped into the wedding plans for months or even years, it is common that your fiance just can't get a break from anything wedding-related. And for many of us, having wedding plans swirling around in ours heads 24/7 for an entire year is exactly what makes us overwhelmed!

--->> More ideas pop into your head which makes making decisions even harder now that you have 27 extra options!

--->> Your To-Do list becomes longer and longer

And so on...

Here at The Overwhelmed Bride, we're all about weddings. But we're especially all about marriages!

So in the middle of all of this planning, make sure you take some time to continue dating your fiance. And for that matter, continue dating even through your years of marriage! Set aside one day each month, or even one day each week if you have the time, to go on a date night (or date day) so you can keep what is most important at your core...and so your fiance can feel some love, some time away from feeling that you have left him for someone named "wedding plans."

I'm known to read minds and I predict your next thought will be, "We are spending so much money on the wedding, we just can't afford to going on dates!"

Well thank goodness I looked into the future, because I prepared date night ideas that will cost you little to no money at all!

Now you have no excuse :)

So take the time to date your fiance, to get the wedding plans out of your head, and to keep your relationship, your marriage, at your core!
