7 Ways to Throw A Fitness Bachelorette Party

Your big day is almost here and the girls are planning your big night out. Woo! But what if instead of punishing your liver, staying out past your bedtime and making memories for the sole purpose of not remembering them, what if, instead, you did something good for your body?

Bachelorette fitness parties are quickly becoming a trend, and it isn’t hard to see why. When are you more motivated than when pumping iron amongst your best gal pals? And when do you get the best workout possible if not during a barre class? If you answered those questions the way that I wanted you to, then you are going to love this bachelorette party fitness post!

7 Ways to Throw a Kick Ass Fitness Bachelorette Party

Recently Sixpence Events & Planning (that’s me!) teamed up with Haute Barre, a fitness studio at the shops at West End. I wanted to explain, with pretty pictures and a video, just what it can look like to have a healthy and good-for-you bachelorette party. Perhaps this is the nearing-thirty-sophisticated-and-so-mature (yeah, right) Josey speaking, but the appeal of having a night-to-forget is fading quickly. So, call your maid of honor and pick up your pencils, here are 7 ways to throw a kick ass fitness bachelorette party!

1. Barre class.

While it doesn’t have to be a barre class, barre is a great workout. Not only does it require no previous experience, but usually your hair-do stays intact. Attend a class that has a perky, fun, personable instructor (this means probably not a crossfit class). It’s always great too if you can book a private class, that way you can really be yourselves.

2. Healthy drinks, sans-alcohol = Mojito water.

Pick a health infused liquid, add chia seeds or bring Kombucha. Lots of lemons and limes, apple cider vinegar - all of those things are really great for your liver, your skin and your kidneys. Although, you should follow a recipe - otherwise no one will drink your brown sludge mix. They just won’t.

3. Temporary tattoos.

These are cute and super cheap. I used Teal Ash’s tatts but other adorable vendors like Love and Lion or whatever else you can find on Etsy. Just be sure to read the reviews - while you don’t want them to be permanent, you do want them to at least adhere for a few hours.

4. Matching tanks.

...and they can be used the day of your wedding as well.

Team Bride tops are SO CUTE! If you have women of every size and shape, go with a well-known shirt brand; or have a way to try them on before purchasing.

5. Nail wraps instead of manis.

Nail wraps are quick and easy and harmless; well comparatively so. They can go on top of existing nail polish. I propose to not go it alone - bring in a Jamberry or Mary Kay specialist so that they can do the work for you. Stacia Christenson is one such lovely lady who can apply like nobody’s business!

6. Matching jewelry from a local vendor.

Nordstrom is fine for finding jewelry but going with a local vendor means you’ll have more unique pieces. I suggest mix and matching jewelry pieces, that then can be worn for the wedding. Sara Goldfine’s jewelry line is perfectly on trend right now, check it out!
7. Good for you snacks: Mix your own trail mix, that way everyone can include their favorite items. Or splurge and include your favorite candy or pretzels; either way it’s mess free and easy to eat!

Josey

Losing Weight Without Dieting -- My Bridal Story

Written with love, by Jennifer Dene

Shortly after I got engaged I gained 30 pounds. Pretty bad timing!

I had recently moved to the United States from Sydney, Australia, and had a lot going on in my life that led to this sudden weight gain. While this impacted my self-esteem as a Pilates and fitness trainer, I also felt totally anxious about how I would look and feel on my wedding day (and in my wedding photos).

As the date approached I was desperate to lose weight, so, against my better judgement, I turned to extreme diets and exercise routines.

Not only did these methods not work, they made me feel miserable and totally detracted from my engagement experience — I mean, you should be able to have a glass of champagne and a chocolate cupcake at your bridal shower without feeling guilty!

Fortunately, after creating my own fitness and nutrition program, I was able to get the bombshell bride results that I desired, without diets and deprivation.

This week on Mind Body Bride I share three of the techniques I use to live with ease at my ideal weight, as well as a roundup of some of MBB's favorite workouts, recipes and relaxation tips.

I can't wait to see you there!

With love,
     Jennifer Dene

Detoxify With This Full Body Bridal Workout

Written with love, by Jennifer Dene

full body wedding workout

Pre-wedding juice cleanses are so 2015! As a sexy, smart and savvy bride you know that the easiest way to reach and maintain your bridal-babe-body is by eating clean, enjoying a treat or two, and sticking to a specific workout plan that includes high intensity training to elevate your heart rate, tone your muscles and generate a good sweat.

Sweating is an essential part of the detox process as toxins are eliminated through the pores. Not only does this help to clear up your skin, it also purges the body of much toxic build-up.

Today's 30 minute workout gives a whole new meaning to #sweatingforthewedding.

Grab a pair of weights (5 - 12 pounds) and I'll see you in the workout!

With love,
     Jennifer Dene
